Postcrossing - postcards connecting the world
So you might be wondering what made me search for "postcrossing".. Nowadays, hardly noone is writing any letters or postcards. We´ve all got social media which is way faster - but way more impersonal. Knowing that I gonna open the post box every day without recieving any personal letters made me kinda sad - whenever I open it, there are just bills, newspapers, advertising and even more bills. So instead of complaining, I decided to change this fact. This made me check the internet for different options: There are some "penfriend"-websites, but as I had a look at them, I found out that most of the users selected "I prefer email instead of snailmail" which was not at all what I was looking for. So after some research, I came across postcrossing and really loved concept.
What is "postcrossing" about?
So "postcrossing" (www.postcrossing.com) is a website that connects people from all over the world who want to exchange postcards. So that´s basically what it´s about: sending and receiving postcards. First of all just gonna create an account telling people a bit about yourself, what kind of postcards you would like to recieve (beaches, your favourite animal, selfmade ones,..) and maybe give them an idea of what you´d like to read about (their everyday life, their favourite recipe, a travel advice,..). Whenever you want to send a postcard, the website gonna give you a profile (including the address) of a stranger using a random generator and you´ll send him/her a postcard. On that card you also need to add a code which the one receiving it needs to type in on the postcrossing website to register it as "received". As soon as it´s marked you are in the pot as well and you´ll receive a postcard soon!
HAPPY POSTCROSSING!
"The world before us is a postcard, and I imagine the story we are writing on it."
